We have had incredible short term teams serve at the Davis Lar this summer. We thank FBC Brunswick, Georgia, for their faithfulness to the Lar, their contribution to Eusebio II by building the bread factory, and their discipleship/craft team who spent time at Lar I. We look forward to pics. We look forward to being there upon your return, and the kids send a loud hello and thanks!
Our gratitude goes out to Kirsten and Nonato Pinheiro and their Victory Circus team who ministered to our kids and the surrounding community through circus activities and evangelism. They even painted nails and braided hair on their time off! Circo Link
A group of four college students served at the Lar from Gardner Webb University. Their job? Do anything we ask. They cleared a soccer field, built a volleyball court, played with kids, and assisted another mission team, the ever-returning and helpful Bountyland Baptist Church of Seneca, SC. Bountyland has returned yearly to teach gifted children painting, teach our bigger boys wood working- (the only two injuries were to Americans-they truly gave their blood, sweat and tears)- assist children updating their scrapbooks, baking,- no four alarmers, tie-dying shirts, and recreation. Let them tell you what they thought of hteir experience!!
" This was my first trip to the Davis Lar. I honestly do not know how you describe what goes on there. The fact that children's lives are being changed because they are learning that they are loved by Jesus as well as the staff there for simply who they are is amazing! It is evident when one of the older boys, who seems to indicate he is the "coolest there," expresses deep heartfelt feelings of gratitude for those who take their time to share with them. Heart melting - has to be experienced!! "
Duff McConnell, Bountyland
After three personal visits to the Davis Lar over a period of 1 1/2 years we have found the facilities and administration to be amazing. In the middle of lives of chaos the Lar and its staff have made a home for countless children. On a daily basis they go above and beyond the requirements to meet the needs of the children. On a personal level we are happy, proud, sad and excited all at the same time to be a sponsor of the most delightful, loving little girl you can imagine. Happy, proud and excited to be a part of the mission of the Davis Lar and have a personal impact on a young girls life but sad because of the situation that brought her to the Lar and that after every visit our hearts break as we leave each others presence.~It is always another test of faith that we sadly leave trusting that we will again have the privilege to be together again soon. 6 months was never so long! Claire Smith, Bountyland
"It is amazing to see the progress the kids of the Davis Lar home are making as they overcome emotional and physical difficulties. One young man who 3 years ago could not walk at all, is now walking some without assistance. Another young man who would not talk or interact with anyone is now talking some and will even hug people. These and other success stories are continuing under the loving leadership of Mark & Paige Anderson and their staff at the Davis Lar."
Eddie Schrader, Bountyland
" [At the lar there is] love that cannot come from man's own strength but solely from the true source of love, Jesus Christ. My perception of the LAR: The Lar is preparing and restoring the way of the Lord in lives where so much has been stolen. [It is] a loving family centered firmly around the love and service of a Holy God.
Matthew Leonard, GWU
The Lar is a place where the love of God is seen through the way He works and transforms the children's lives. It was a blessing and honor to have witnessed the power of God displayed in each and every one of the kids. Being at the Davis Lar changed the way I view joy and thankfulness; the way the kids welcomed me into their lives and were willing to share all they had with me, a stranger, was absolutely beautiful. SPONSOR A CHILD
We are thrilled to announce the retirement of Linda Schrader, project manager of Duke Energy. Why?? Because her vision and organizational ability will now be used for the Davis Lar! An avid supporter of the Davis Lar, Linda has volunteered to organize and manage the child sponsorship program. Financially, July was ugly at the Davis Lar. We need to firm up the sponsorship and correspondence program. Pray for us as we reorganize. Pray for those who give to continue, and for others to sponsor a child. If you sponsor a child, please send an email to Linda at lhschrader@nctv.com with the name of the child you sponsor, to whom you send the funds, and your name and address.

Coming Challenges
I was privileged to accompany the Bountyland group to the Lar, and I asked the Lord to show me, unequivically, what the next 10 years hold. He came through with clear indicators. 1: The Lar and many of 1st Baptist Fortaleza stated it clearly- they missed us terribly and can't wait for us to return. 2: I oversaw four interviews and was amazed at the "before" and "after" stories our girls shared. Two conveyed Christ's love so clearly, imploring those stuck in child-prostituion to turn to Christ and find help, they could have been preaching. They gave credit to the work done at the Davis Lar for their ability to forge a successful future without slums, drugs and prostitution. While we have many challenges, I am reminded we are simply His tools. (Pray for the potential documentary!) 3. A 2-page letter was given me by a Brazilian man I do not know which included: "Though some will try to discourage you, be like David against Goliath and continue, continue, continue. The Lord is your shelter and he will continue to bless the work of the Andersons and the Davis Lar. Remember the changed lives....." At this point I looked up and said, "I get it Lord!!" I am so excited to go back, and so thrilled to clearly see His calling. For you couples out there, you probably see Mark is ecstatic I caught a clear vision!!
I returned to the US with an infected elbow which led to two urgent care visits with referrals to the ER, plus two series of antibiotics. Pray as these unexpected bills come in. (UGH!) When in Brazil, Marilyn Mauldin and I took some time to prepare our home. There is much to repair and replace in the house. Pray for these challenges as we return to our home and the wonderful kids of the Davis Lar. Pray we can resolve our living and transportation situation quickly so we can get to work and follow His clear calling.
Sincerely,
Mark and Paige Anderson
